LoL at all this rank discrimination talk. People just want to group with others of similar skill/experience and you can't change that. Ranks are a simple even if often inaccurate way to do that. Why do you absolutely have to play with high rank groups? You want them to drag you on easy fame runs?

It's not elitism that diminishes active player numbers. It's by far the opposite - as opposed to how it was in the first years of GW now the HA ranks and emotes are far far less valued among the entire GW population. Players who are still playing GW but just doing something else in it got much less incentive because the rewards got old. However players who left playing GW entirely would need more than just rewards, they need significant gameplay enchancements and new gameplay elements to consider coming back.

Back to the rewards, providing some stupid mechanisms enabling dumb PvE like grind (points for losing wtf) is wrong way, instead providing some entirely NEW rewards to the old PvP modes is the way to go.
New rewards matter, just rewind back several months and look at how many players were doing HA in the HA Z-Quest days. It almost reached the levels of double fame weekends! Nowadays there's not much difference since ZCoins quickly got old and can be obtained in many other easier ways.

Here is some data I got off of gwchar, which is a sample of 25,719 players.

11.7% of all players have a Gladiator rank.

1.9% of all players have a Champion rank.

21.4% of all players have a Hero rank

Thats nearly twice as many as RA and 10 times as many as gvg. Yes its horrible getting started in HA. Its like crawling through broken glass, but its has to be more accessible than its reputation because its the most held pvp rank in the game.

I fail to see how pampering bad players is going to signifficantly add to HA's deteriorating playerbase. The only thing that's going to come from this update are more pve players farming the first two areas and then getting stomped the third match by people who actually play HA, not a renewed interest in the game.

Default I agree with the INTENT behind incentive...

... to draw players into the PvP arenas (HA/RA). I'm NOT sure I agree with the + fame suggestion tho. That type of incentive ONLY reinforces the behavoirs (botting/leeching/griefing). Maybe more balth is the incentive? dunno...

& and to all those "High Rank" Pvpers that can only SEE one side of the OVERALL issue associated with RANK discrimination, I *ASK* you to TRY something different EVERY time you want to form a PUG for the next several weeks. Type "R0 LFG - will run ANY build!" Guaranteed you will sit there for more than an hour while you're essentially trolling for insults.

Remember, ANET set up "the structure" & "the structure" CREATES "the behavior". The ONLY way to change "the behavior" is to CHANGE "the structure". The player base ISN'T going to change "the behavior" WITHOUT incentive! So if ANET can't/won't change the structure, then ANET is obliged to create incentive for the player base to change behavior.

If they converted HA over to "random" [I know many ppl will flame me, but idc... so] that'd be amazing! It'd make entry rank-discriminationless. It'd take all the gimmicky problems and smash them to pieces because there'd be no more 100% way to enter with 8/8 unless they really luck out on a sync.

whoa I didn't mean convert it. I just meant make it an option. And they would join similar to how RA joined with TA. If you win X times in Random HA you go to underworld. Or even better if you take halls in RHA you go to underworld

Splitting what little's left of the HA players? Bad idea! They'd have to convert over to RHA, otherwise it'll be guaranteed to become a ghost town for sure.

The only people that'd play RHA are the people that don't HA currently. I sure as heck wouldn't play it. But I know some newbies would. Then you get newbies into RHA and then try real HA when they get good.

Although I like the idea,

I could just load up 8 accounts and enter HA own the NPCs with some easy spammable junk for all 8 accounts, go naked and lose purposefully. 180 loses later all 8 of those accounts have r3 and are now currently /ranking everyone in a huge group and being really irritating.

It's a good idea but the reward for effort should definitely be limited, after 5 runs you should get no more points, get the idea and quit failing.

You're dead wrong. First of people are retarded. Secondly, RA shouldn't be left as it is. The win cap is absolutely retarded. Besides, awarding individual wins would be a good idea, because many teams will resign if they do not have a good chance of winning 5 games in a row. This makes RA frustrating: you usually don't even get to play.

As for the original idea: it is ridicilous to award people for showing up and it will likely bring lots of leecher teams to tombs.

The only people who dont want this are the people that already have high ranks in each respective title. The only people who do are the ones who dont have high ranks. Reworking how a title is awarded is like reworking the past reward.

I re-read it and it's not at all what I meant, so I re-phrased it to reflect my initial thoughts. Again, sorry if I gave you guys the wrong impression. NPCs would NOT award the fame point, otherwise it'd make it insanely easy to get fame points (which is baaaaaaed!).

The idea is to beat the NPCs AND complete a full HA round without resigning.

It could be adjusted to every two or three tries even. The point of this system is to rekindle activity in HA. It's currently near-dead, with the same couple of teams looping over & over & over &... *you get it*. And of course 1337ists are going to counter-argue this system; it's expected!
